Advantages
for Students
Students start with Diagnostic Tests which identify their strengths and any weaknesses for which they need help. They participate in formulating their own learning plan. They produce written and recorded examples that serve as benchmarks against which they can see their progress.
The Course is computer-based and so students have control over their learning program and do not feel threatened. They can complete an exercise and then clear it by clicking on a button and can repeat this as many times as they want until they are satisfied.
The programs practise all the communication skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening, in exercises presented in a fresh and colourful style. This makes them varied and interesting.
The computer programmes let students use vocabulary and content based on their own environment. This allows them to communicate clearly and simply about themselves and about the people, places and events which figure in their lives. They learn to do this in sentences and paragraphs and become prolific describers and story-tellers.
Students rapidly learn to communicate in English simply, clearly and confidently. The programs allow them to compare what they are achieving with what they were able to do before. Their rapid progress boosts their confidence and helps them to re-engage in education.

“Perhaps one of the most surprising findings of my research was the extent to which young people had enjoyed doing the course. Five of the six students used the word “fun” to describe it, and two told me very enthusiastically that they had loved Rapid English!”

“It has absolutely changed a lot of kids’ attitudes to education. When they become more confident about their skills, they can become more confident about learning.”
