Avoiding Confusion

Rapid English doesn’t confuse students. Normal language teaching is often based on teaching by contrast – for example teaching the difference between the frequently used simple present tense (“he reads”) and the much less frequently used present continuous tense (“he is reading”). This method of teaching causes confusion and error, particularly among less
able students. All over the world English learners misuse and overuse the present continuous simply because of the way language is taught. The widespread misuse and overuse of the apostrophe is another unfortunate but inevitable product of teaching by contrast. The Communication Course is carefully structured to minimise such confusion, by teaching one thing at
a time, starting with the most useful.
